Where does Kantetsu Ryu Come From?

Fred Altensee, Dai Sempai, named the system Kantetsu Ryu as a means of honoring his sensei, Wayne Lorance and Roland Tinkes.  Kantetsu Ryu codifies their system which incorporated three distinct arts--TaeKwonDo, Shito Ryu, and Tang Sho Dau.  Kantetsu literally means "crown of steel" and is derived from the meanings of Mr. Lorance's name (Crown of Laurel) and Mr. Tinkes' name (tinkerer or metalworker). Ryu means school or system. Thus, Kantetsu Ryu Karate is the Lorance-Tinkes System of Karate.
